Jagriti Yatra 2015 — Day 1 — OntheTrain

After a late night check in into the train after the iinaugurals and the dinner 600 people boarded the Jagruthi Yatra train on 24th December to understand and experience India through experiences and learning’s and build India through enterprise by intervention in tier 2 and 3 cities. We crashed into our berths immediately as it was a long day and was mentally and physically exhausting. We woke by around 8 or 9 had our induction sessions and lunch and sessions on getting to know our groups, warming up into your groups etc , dinner and sleep. We got to know about the train, arrangement of the coaches, bathrooms etc. I was amzed by the operation and the logistical challenges the organizers would have faced while planning this journey. Managing 600 ppls daily needs in a train for 15 days is hard and these people are doing a amazing job.

Met some incredeble people today of which some have started up 2 or 3 startups failed and taking life as it is. A senior professor who has written a paper on Rural Economic Zone such as Special economic zone, Consultants from PWC for 10 years, PhDs, people who work in the grassroot level on native education, skills etc. Other people who pursue their passion in arts, finance etc and also the purpose behind why they do what they do. People from different countries and literally all states of India.

Also realized most people in our group are related to music too and had a fun 2 hours of music session. One of the rarest occasion where the audience outnumbered the artists. I obviously was part of the audience.

It was nice to get to know so many diverse people from different geographies, religion, economic and social background each doing different things. Was also interesting to know their views and perspectives of India, life as such and a lot of other different things. I felt humbled and had a feeling of gratitude and silence. Looking forward to the visit of SELCO factory near HUBLI today.

Looking forward to the next two weeks of the Journey. ‪#‎jy2015‬
