Building a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) can be a challenging task, especially in industries with complex processes such as the retail market in the forex industry. As a developer working on such a project, I found that the fear of starting something new can grow bigger after experiencing a software crisis.

In my case, I attempted to build an MVP within a tight deadline of 3 months but failed to complete it due to not following a strong framework like OKRs to ensure I was on track with my objectives. However, I have come to understand the importance of the OKRs (Objectives and Key Results) framework in setting and tracking goals for businesses of all sizes. When applied correctly, OKRs can provide several benefits to businesses, including helping them to create an MVP.

An MVP is a product that has just enough features to satisfy early adopters and gather feedback for future development. Creating an MVP is a great way to validate an idea or concept before investing too much time and money into it. However, the chances of falling into what we call a “software crisis” are still high, and this is where OKRs can help. OKRs can provide several benefits to businesses that are creating an MVP, including aligning objectives, focusing on key results, encouraging collaboration, and measuring progress.

The first step in creating an MVP is to define the objectives of the product. OKRs can help align the objectives of the product with the overall goals of the business. This ensures that the MVP is not only useful to early adopters but also contributes to the long-term success of the business. OKRs also help businesses to focus on the key results that matter most. When creating an MVP, it is important to identify the key metrics that will indicate whether the product is successful or not. OKRs provide a framework for tracking these key results and making sure that the MVP is on track to meet its objectives.

Creating an MVP requires collaboration between different teams and individuals. OKRs help to foster collaboration by aligning everyone’s efforts towards a common goal. This ensures that everyone is working towards the same objectives and helps to eliminate any potential conflicts or miscommunications. OKRs also provide a way to measure progress towards the objectives of the MVP. This ensures that the product is on track and that any issues are identified and addressed in a timely manner. By tracking progress, businesses can make informed decisions about whether to continue investing in the product or pivot to a different strategy.

In conclusion, by implementing the OKRs framework, businesses can create an MVP that meets the needs of early adopters and contributes to the long-term success of the business. I have personally experienced the benefits of the OKRs framework in my development process, and I would be sharing my process and implementation of the OKR using the MERN stack.

Stay tuned!
