ABOUT

Pattadakal, which is identified as a Unesco world heritage site, is on the banks of the Malaprabha river. It has a great combination of Hindu place of worship and also temple architecture. Of the most spectacular architectural wonders of South India, Pattadakal ranks high.Pattadakal is also a learning center teaching architecture, temple construction and sculpture art through its university. Pattadakal has ten temples, of which four have been constructed in North India’s Nagara style and six are in the South Indian Hoysala style.

WHERE IS IT?

It is in Bagalkot district’s Badami taluk. It is located 22 km from Badami, and can be reached via Banashankari.

HOW TO GET THERE?

Badami taluk is 40 km from Bagalkot district center. Pattadakal can be reached from Badami via Banashankari and Kendoor, too. If traveling from Hubli, one can reach Pattadakal via Kulageri and Badami. From Gadag, one can travel via Rona to reach here. Badami is well connected by rail, and can be accessed through the Hubli-Gadag route or the Vijayapur-Bagalkot route.
