With Mother’s Day on the horizon (Sunday 31 March) I wanted to showcase some of the fantastic local businesses around Kent. Instead of buying mass produced items from the high street how about taking a look at some of these independent businesses and the gorgeous items they have for your Mum to spoil her this Mother’s Day!

Hop Shop at Castle Farm

The UK’s largest lavender farm is located just outside of Sevenoaks and has an array of beautiful hampers to purchase either at their farm shop in Shoreham or online. One of their best sellers is this gorgeous Lavender Pamper Collection featuring Kentish Hop & Lavender Sleepy Scent, Lavender Massage Oil, Bath Oil, Hand Cream, Chocolates, Biscuits and finished with an embroidered lavender bag. All for £57 including delivery.

I’m partial to the Lavender chocolates as they have a lovely subtle flavour which enhances the dark chocolate!

Alternatively why not try the Lavender Gift box which includes Lavender Oil, Lavender Biscuits, scented candle, lavender embroidered bag and sprig of lavender for £26 inclusive of delivery.

Sevenoaks Candle Company

How about a gorgeous handmade soy candle from the Sevenoaks Candle Company? From Apple Blossom, English Rose or Lemongrass & Lime there are lots of fragrances to choose from with prices starting from just £4. They even offer free local delivery within Sevenoaks and the local area for orders over £10.

Joie De Vivre Boutique

This lovely independent boutique in Sevenoaks has some really on trend pieces including some great accessories like these leopard print scarves. The staff are super helpful in picking out presents (my husband can testify to this!) and they are reasonably priced. Why not pop in and see their gorgeous shop dog Hudson at the same time.

Afternoon Tea

There are some great places around Sevenoaks to take your Mum for afternoon tea. Some of my favourites are Sally’s Cake Emporium in Otford, Raspberry Room in Brasted, The Honeypot in Shoreham, Dulce’s Patisserie in central Sevenoaks, and Teal Cafe between Sevenoaks and Hildenborough. Most of them are doing special Afternoon Tea’s on the day (booking essential) or why not book for another day for a treat to look forward to?

Jewellery

I’ve been lusting after these Queen Bee leather accessories from Bill Skinner since their launch and with lots of other beautiful costumer jewellery online and in their Otford shop why not pick out a special piece for Mum? They currently have 15% off everything for a limited time with the code MOTHER.

I also adore the jewellery from Catherine De Crèvecoeur such as these Brigitte earrings. They are a great gift for a super stylish Mum! Sevenoaks Mums also currently have a giveaway for a pair of the Mother of Pearl Harmonia earrings on their Facebook page.

A little tipple

There are some fantastic vineyards around Sevenoaks so why not pick up a bottle of sparkling wine from Squerryes or Mount Vineyard? Or if spirits are more to your Mum’s taste why not try Anno Distillers Gin or Wild Spirits of Kent Vodka?

Make your own hamper

Why not make up your own hamper with your own local picks? The Kent & Sussex Tea Company have a wide range of teas such as the strawberry flavoured hibiscus, cinnamon & plum green tea and camomile flowers. You could pair this with some delicious and beautifully presented chocolates from the Chocolate Shop Sevenoaks and some locally produced jam from the Wooden Spoon Preserving Company such as their Gooseberry & Sloe Gin or Strawberry & Champagne flavours. Why not also add in some local biscuits from a local farm shop as well?

I hope this has given you some inspiration to #shoplocal and support our fantastic independent businesses.

Becky
