Centralized vs Decentralized — The Internet of the Past, Present and Future
Ryan Shea

I have doubts about decentralized networks like Bitcoin and Ethereum going mainstream. Reason being the benefits of centralized banking are apparent and trumps that of decentralized currency. Countries are very unlikely going to abandon their own country’s currency and adopt Bitcoin. This way governments lose control of the monetary flow in their countries. Yes there will be greater transparency and security in transactions but without the support of the governments, do not expect the masses to use it in their daily lives anytime soon.

At its core, blockchain systems are beneficial to organisations e.g organisations can use blockchain technology to outsource computational power for molecular level simulations.
