This is the best Kyrie analysis I’ve read — thanks. I’d add that watching Harden and Westbrook throw up monster seasons and dominate the MVP conversation had to make Kyrie think “why not me?” He sees two guys who can score and don’t play much defense and he has to know that could be him, too. Score 30 a night, go to the second round and be a bigger star than he is on LeBron’s team. He’s already got a ring.

But…. five years from now I suspect we’ll be reading how Kyrie wants his release to go play for a contender.
