This article is a great read, thanks for doing the work of it! This comment caught my attention.

I guess it depends on your perspective. Doom mankind? Maybe not any single instance — but loss of privacy/having privacy stolen has a long, storied history of dooming individuals — whole groups of them, even. And too much of that going unchecked will doom mankind.
The need for privacy will never go out of style. Privacy is the best guarantee a conscious free mind has to think for itself.
