First of all, I owe all of you guys an apology for the huge abscence. There’s been just so much going on, I haven’t had the time to write, and polish something enough to be worthy of publishing. Regardless, I felt that you guys deserved an update. I’ll try to keep this short and sweet as to not waste anyone’s time.

Long story cut short, I’ve been hard at working transitioning from a UI Developer into a Full-Stack one. It’s something I’ve been looking into for a long time, and I’m proud to have finally achieved the transition! And second, to better reinforce what I’m learning ever day, I have decided to to become a mentor for Thinkful.com’s Full-Stack Web Dev course. I won’t bore you with the details, but all I can absolutely say is their course content is beyond amazing. Easily among the best I’ve seen, and it even includes a job or your money back guarantee. So if you’re interested in that, feel free to give this link a check!

Now, as for what’s coming. I’m proud to let you guys know I have a 3 part article series on Learn Web Development — Coding Tools in the works;

  • Part 1 — Introduction, and IDEs vs Text Editors (95% complete)
  • Part 2 — Text Editor Showdown, picking the best one for you. (Not started)
  • Part 3 — Supercharge your text editor with these powerful extensions. (regardless of which one you use!) (85% complete)

I plan this write up to include and compare all major Text Editors (Atom, Visual Studio Code, Sublime Text and Brackets, as well as extensions that are available for all 4 of them. As for after that, I already have a roadmap for future articles (order or titles not final);

  • Learning programming and got stuck? Asked a question and nobody answered? Here’s a probable cause.
  • Learning Web Development and struggling to find exercises to practice what you learnt? Start here.
  • The perfect laptop for Web Development on every budget.
  • Unit and Automated Testing — It’s a lot easier than it sounds, here’s where to start.
  • Crash course on Continous Integration, Task Runners (Grunt/Gulp) and Bundlers (Browserify/Webpack).

Maybe I’ll do a poll later on to ask you guys which article you guys would prefer first, and leave you guys decide what I should focus on writing next. As for release dates, I expect to release Introduction, and IDEs vs Text Editors by next week, and Part 2 and Part 3 will follow subsequently after 1–2 weeks. And after that, do my best to release a new article every month.

I guess that’s all for the update! Thank you all for reading and sticking by to see what comes next 🙂
