Crystals that DON’T work together

Hi Everyone!! I often get asked how to know if you are wearing too many crystals, if they cancel each other out and what are bad crystal combinations?! That is how this blog post was born!

Wearing Too Many Crystals:

I don’t believe that you can wear too many crystals. I believe that if you are wearing too many for your energetic body, you will know. You will feel off, uncomfortable and sluggish. You’ll just feel that something is not working and then it is possible that you are wearing too many crystals.

I know it’s “on fleek” and super cool to wear 6 necklaces and have them all layer nicely. We were all there right?! But sometimes at the end of the day you feel as if you’re carrying bricks around and that isn’t a good thing. Be aware of yourself and you can easily change this by wearing a few less pieces to see if it is indeed your crystals.

Crystals that Don’t Work Together:

This is a challenging one to answer because I believe that with the right intention/s that all crystals can work together, but I do believe there are some combinations that don’t work well together and there are some crystals that don’t work well with you are particularly emotional.

There are some crystals that wouldn’t work well for you when you’re emotional and a little low. In this instance, I wouldn’t recommend malachite, clear quartz or cool coloured stones (blue stones) that bring energy down instead of energising.

Clear Quartz is an amplifier, so you may find yourself feeling lower because it is amplifying your low energy.

Malachite is quite a powerful crystal that is also known to amplify all kinds of energy so it can also leave you feeling lower in the dumps. It is said to make the highs very high and the lows very low.

If you’re feeling down, the last thing you want is to feel more down so that is why I wouldn’t recommend cool coloured stones that are light blue.

Now this can differ for many people so it isn’t set in stone. Many people find that clear quartz boosts their energy and makes them happy even if they are feeling low. The same can be said for malachite as well as many other stones! You need to take note of how your crystal makes you feel and how they impacts your mood — VERY NB!

Another important thing to take into consideration with your crystals is as HibiscusMoon says: “You’ve got to ask yourself what are you trying to achieve here?

Her example is fantastic: Carnelian boosts energy whereas Blue Lace Agate calms energy down so they would cancel each other out because it sends a confused signal out into the Universe, i.e. you don’t know if you want to boost or calm the energy. It is pointless unless you wanted to use the carnelian to boost your creative energy and the blue lace agate to promote better communication. That’s why intention is very important — what are you trying to achieve here?

It can get a little tricky, but the general rule is:

Warm colours like red, orange as well as yellow boost and energise. They are motivating colours. These sorts of colour shades want to accelerate as well as make you want to move, get going and light the fire.

Green will balance because it’s in between everything and it would be relatively calming as well.

Cool colours like light blue, indigo and violet will be more calming and soothing. These shades of colours call for peace and slowing down.

Energising and Balancing the Chakras:

I want to take this a little further and show you how colour works so well with the chakras. Remember that not every person will to need to energise their chakras. Sometimes our chakra is so chaotic and we need to cool down that excess energy.

If you want to energise and/or boost your chakras, here is the general guideline, which we all know ;) :

Red stones for the root chakra, orange stones for the sacral chakra, yellow stones for the solar plexus chakra, green stones for the heart chakra, light blue stones for the throat chakra, indigo stones for the third eye chakra, purple stones for the crown chakra.

If you wanted to calm the energy down and provide balance because it was too chaotic, here’s the general guideline:

  • Green stones for the root chakra like green aventurine.
  • Light blue stones for the sacral chakra like blue lace agate.
  • Purple stones for the solar plexus like amethyst.
  • Red stones for the heart chakra like red jasper, but I also feel pink stones like rose quartz will calm the energy.
  • Orange stones for the throat chakra like sunstone.
  • Yellow or orange stones for the third eye chakra like carnelian or citrine. Dare I say that heat treated citrine would work well for this in my opinion.
  • Yellow for the crown chakra like citrine.

Have you ever had a crystal that just didn’t work for you and you felt was not working for what you wanted to achieve?

Next week, I’ll be talking about how to know if you’re chakra is balanced, has deficient energy or excess energy.
