This article does a really phenomenal job of causing you to take a step back and reevaluate how we evaluate the websites we trust. It’s easy to take things we find on the internet at face value but the article makes a compelling argument for a closer inspection of our sources.

One of the first points and quite possibly the most important of all was the authors idea that we need to check up on who exactly it is that we are reading, who they are affiliated with and what kind of work they have been known to do. Many times I look at an article, see that it’s from a reputable news site and move on, but it’s often important to have a little background on where the author is specifically coming from.

The article also goes into the reliability and currency of the information you are accessing. The author emphasizes that knowing when an article was written can provide quite a bit of context for what is being articulated in the piece. On a separate note the article also brings the use of “www” sources into question, arguing that, while internet sources are more convenient, print sources may in fact be the better option.
