In my time at Georgia Institute of Technology HCI, I have been participating in several projects where I work as the UX Researcher and Designer.

Three developed projects of mine are in my portfolio, but definitely, there are many more.

And I would like to share them with you periodically.

Project 2 — Hingama

Hingama, in a nutshell, is to help people recover from negative mood status.

The moment I came with the idea to empower individuals to curate mood, protect them from anxiety, depression and any other negative mood status, all teammates immediately resonate with me considering the several tragedies that happened recently on the campus.

Hi, we want you to be happy.

The Problem Space

“Depression will be the second leading cause of disease by 2020”

-WHO

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), depression affects more than 300 million people worldwide. Symptoms include feelings of intense sadness that last for extended periods, loss of interest in everyday activities, headaches, anxiety, trouble sleeping, and sleep disturbances. In the most severe cases, it can lead to suicide.

This is the very serious issue in today’s fast-paced world where stress levels are excessively high and affect people in all age groups and walk of life. Most people don’t even realize they need help or have time to reflect upon the negative effect this problem is having on the quality of their lives.

Objectives

  1. Help users who are capable of (willing to) self-modify their mood status via various approaches
  2. Help users to have in-person communications with trusted friends
