B2B e-Learning

The effectiveness of the e-Learning

E-learning is the most recent evolution of distance learning—a learning situation where instructors and learners are separated by distance, time, or both. E-learning applications and processes include Web-based learning, computer-based learning, virtual classrooms and digital collaboration. E-learning includes numerous types of media that deliver text, audio, images, animation, and streaming video. E-learning refers to using electronic applications and processes to learn. If the e-learning is well designed with good content it could be very effective. Using interactive design to simulate the content can help the users to understand better. We as online student have to use lots of Demonstrative software learning.

“Simulations can improve the learning experience by letting users actively participate in the lesson. During the simulated exercise, the users will have to click on a button or direction before they can move on to the next screen. Each click can be accompanied with feedbacks on their progress.”

“Demonstrations are recorded projects that are intended to demonstrate a concept. It is not used for encouraging user interaction.”

E-learning effectiveness can be influenced by multimedia instruction, interactive learning activities, and e-learning system quality.

E-learning benefits are:
Any time: A participant can access the learning program at any time that is convenient.
Any place: The participants do not have to meet.

The sites that I looked in to are:
http://www.rosettastone.com
http://www.codecademy.com

Rosettastone.com : This e-learning software is very effective because it’s simulated and it’s very interactive. This language-learning software uses images, text, sound, and video to teach words and grammar by spaced repetition, without translation. In a Rosetta Stone exercise, the student pairs sound or text to one of several images. The number of images per screen varies. The software show the student images and they have to match it with words and sound that they have seen in previous page. In writing exercises, the software provides an on-screen keyboard to make it easier to type characters that are not in the Latin alphabet. The software can evaluate word pronunciation.

Codecademy.com: based on personal experience I have to say it one on of the best e-learning website. I have learned a lot from this site. This software is using a step by step, simulated & interactive way to teach the users coding and programming. It won’t let you to proceed until you have learned the lesson. It encourages the users with a badge of success to share on their social media. The lessons explanation and the process are very simple and clear.
Discuss any suggestions you might have to improve the eLearning on those Web sites.

My suggestion for codecademy.com would be to add video and audio to the learning process. Since it’s a website it would be nice to have a live chat with a professional coder.
In general I think both of these websites/ software are very well designed and planned. At this point I don’t have any suggestion regarding these two sites. But I have to add that having a well-designed interface that is user-friendly could help the user to understand the content better. For e-learning software to be successful it has to consider: learner characteristics, instructional structure, and interaction, which I believe both of these sites have accomplished that.
