oh Katie — get over it!
Seriously, I’m an Iranian American woman, Meaning that I have many, many, things to get offended about in this world. but i’m not — because I have real things to worry about. If Snapchat decides to create a filter that makes someone have a gigantic nose, wear gucci, all black, be extra hairy, and drive a white BMW, i’m not going to get mad about it. It’s an exaggerated view — but its kinda a Persian thing too.
First of all — let’s talk about the fact you actually spent the time to write this all down, over literally a social filter that disappears in 24 hours and has absolutely ZERO impact in this world. How is it offensive to represent a race with a caricature filter that, although exaggerated, has similar features to that race. Do asian people not have slanty eyes in general? Do they not have yellow-ish skin tones, and round-ish faces.
Are you so insecure about your race and culture that you can’t handle an exaggerated view of it. Have you ever had a caricature drawn of you?… was the artist that drew it racist for noticing your features?
Answer me this … why aren’t any of the other filter’s upsetting you? The lady with the headdress and super thin face, could be making a mockery of gypsy’s… gypsy’s are people too, Katie. Or what about the Bob Marley filter… why didn’t you delete your app then? I can keep going… but i’ll stop. Basically — your are overly entitled and no one is forcing you do use/do anything. So CALM DOWN. :)
