A Band Beyond Their Years — Sunflower Bean By Shadowbox MVMNT / Stick N Move
A group that you may not have heard of has been dubbed by Rolling Stone as “New York’s Coolest Young Band”. We’re talking about the rock trio known as ‘Sunflower Bean’. Consisting of Nick Kivlen on guitar, Jacob Faber on drums, Julia Cumming as their lead singer and bassist (to whom the boys attribute the band taking off to). These are three young musicians who cannot believe how far they have come in the music world in such a short time. But young doesn’t seem to be the word that best describes this group. Of course they are young, as far as life and age goes, but if you were to listen to their music and read their interviews you would see that they don’t seem like the typical youth who find some fame. In their interviews they speak of missing the old neighborhood when they walk down the street and see different buildings. Equally they speak of the comfort they feel on tour, playing their dreams out with music that is nothing shy of epic and extremely fun to jam out to.

Their songs tend to drift into sounds that don’t come around too often, especially from artists of their age. While their sound is original they attribute their style to listening to Nirvana and Foo Fighters growing up. They seem to dedicate their love of music to their exposure to pure Rock ‘N Roll growing up. Bottom line ‘Sunflower Bean” is a group you should check out if you are a pure Rock ‘N Roll fan with a taste for unique with a retro explosive touch….or if you wish to see that good music is not lost on this generation download any track, we guarantee you’ll be satisfied and then some. #shadowbox
