The box of love

Do you know what is the greatest gift you can give to someone — letting them know, that they matter to you a lot.

In this world of stampede, everyone is in a rush to get some materialistic goals and in the meanwhile we forget to tell the people we love that we love. We never get the time to show gratitude towards their endless efforts to make our lives better, when all it would take is saying two words — one beautiful sentence, Thank You!

“Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it.” — William Arthur Ward

In this activity of Amal’s course, we have been assigned to target some people who we have taken for granted till today and show them gratitude to tell them that how much they mean to us.

I decided to go with the individual whom I failed to show gratitude before, he is my friend from university.

He was always besides me supporting me through thick and thin no matter it is a gap year between studies, fighting with a eye disorder, going through the agony of pausing my life for 6 months or running through the struggle to find a good job, he is always there.

So, I decided to make him feel special this time. I invited him to have a lunch with me.

Two mugs of tea, some tasty snacks, two best friends and lots of crazy chatter and loud laughs, what else can you ask for creating a perfect moment, — Nothing! Same was the case here, I acknowledged all his lollipop moments for me which he did completely oblivious of the massive end result bringing positive impact in my life.

I handed over the letter at the end that I made for him and let him read it, he was overjoyed to see himself so special in my life and there was a visible grin curve on his face showing the same love and care back to me. It’s lovely when you don’t speak yet others listen.

Gratitude doesn’t change what we have infront of us; it changes the way we see what we have.

The experience of letting him know that what he means to me was tremendously gleeful. As it put satisfaction in me that I acknowledged the efforts of my friend and realized him his worth. He was also overwhelmed to find that how much I care about him.

In the world of chaos, be a reason for someone’s smile.

Sometimes all we need is to give, if not time, then surely be the words of gratitude.
