The world within — Let’s unleash
The contagious gift of book-reading!

“A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies . . . The man who never reads lives only one.” — George R.R. Martin
The power of books is undeniable, as they carry a world within — best part? Every book carries a different chunk of this world and you can never complete the magical jigsaw of worlds that the books contain! Because you never know that you have read enough, and in fact, you never read enough.
“Between the pages of a book is a lovely place to be.”
So here at amal academy we have been assigned the task of thinking deeply in the past and come up with the goal that had been buried before and start doing it now because the perfect moment never arives, you have to make one. So by thinking deeply and for couple of hours actually I came up with the fear of not letting myself to read books because I had concentration and consistency issues before. The moment I start reading books I lose interest right after 5 minutes I had to like cage myself for 20 minutes straight and tell my mind that it is important and good for me so we have to read this book, but I always end up leaving the book in the middle and never going back to it.

Now, the reason behind this particular goal is to embrace the importance and immense advantages of book reading and to also promote this healthy habit around my community as book reading can do wonders in most elegant ways possible, you don’t even realize and books heal the wounds within.
The challenges like before were the same, the ball was never in my court and this time I was struggling the same battle but the difference was this time I really made up my mind that I need to overcome this issue. So I had to come up with strategies to tackle the issue of losing interest, the monotony of thinking that it’s not important and managing time with a calming space to read properly.
The course of action
- Managing a quality book
- Sustaining the interest
- Following a routine
Managing a quality book :

The journey starts with proper equipment, we cant fight without tools, so in order to achieve my goal I had to arrange a book, a here my friend from amal came to rescue me. It was none other than Rabia Ikram who suggested and not only suggested but given me the book “The Kite Runner” by Khalid Hosseni, to restart the habit of book reading.
Sustaining the interest :
Now the biggest devil residing in the path of my goal achievement was the lack of interest I put in reading books so I decided to hand craft a book reading space for me so that it feels special as well as important to me. I selected a corner and equipped it with a table along with the table lamp and an extension for constant power supply for sure. Then, secondly I used the tool of pomodoro technique to set a timer of 25 mins and complete as many pages of the book with sheer concentration and interest. This way it helped me sustaining interest and avoiding distractions in between.
Following a routine :
Now the final nail in the coffin was following a set routine as the book was decided to be in my possession for two weeks it really urged me to complete it within the set amount of time and it also intrigued me to follow a routine in order to avoid any delays. So i decided to give 2 hours to this book, 1 hour early in the morning and 1 hour before going to bed. This way it helped me overcoming my fears of not becoming a book reader effectively. As I used to read before but not with passion.
These strategies definitely helped me out in getting what I decided as its on even one week yet and im almost at half of the book with proper understanding of the essence. My experience of reliving the habit of book reading was over the moon. And I continue to rejuvenate these moments of joy by having a book with me every month. And in order to continue reading and transfer it to others as well I will build a mini library in my home to highly encourage this habit.
“You know you have read a good book when you turn the last page and feel a little as you have lost a friend” — Paul Sweeney
