Life Time

Shaffan Mustafa

Don't sweat the unimportant things
Just be happy with what today brings

Don't worry about the stress or the deadlines

Memories of duty will be hazy
Only things that'll stick with you are the good times

I still remember living in the dorms with my friends

Working on something that was due at midnight

I just recall that after I turned it in

I was up till 3AM with my friends that night

And now I never forget that making memories

Is more important than meeting due dates

There’s always going to be more work to do

But your current friends don’t always stick with you

I may not be a freshman anymore

But I’ve never been this excited for what’s in store

Your intuition is your guide

If you see a golden opportunity to advance in life, don't let it slide

But if you see a moment that can't be replaced

Then I don't have to tell you that there's no time to waste

I'm still young enough that there's still a lot of oyesters and so many pearls

And you can stand still if you want to, the hour hand always whirls

There's no free time
No down time
Only life time
Some good things come only once in a lifetime

I know that I'll be older with more responsibilities soon enough

And I know I'll only be on this Earth once

But if I play it right
I know once will be all I need

The time of life is short
Not many more days to wake up and go to bed
Don't waste them being filled with dread

Only one life time
I only hope
Between duties, accomplishments, and responsibilities
Between destroying barriers and building communities
You end up having the time of your life
