Little Acts of Kindness
Kindness costs nothing but buys everything. We always talk about being kind to others but instead of paying lip service there is a dire need to show kindness to others. I decided to do five random acts of kindness in order to practically feel that thing. Firstly, I donated 50 rupees for the funding of needy students of UET. I felt I am doing something productive for the society even if I do not know the person. Secondly, I donated 50 rupees for the “Go Green” plantation drive initiated by some students of UET. Thirdly, I decided to meet everyone with a smile on my face no matter if we are not friends. During the handshake, I look at in the person’s eye and smile. Moreover, most of them smiled back. The next thing I did was giving extra tip to the rickshaw driver. Last but not the least I try to listen to everyone carefully even if the topic is not of my interest so that they do not feel ignored.
The things I learned from these experiences are numerous. The first thing you realize is that you feel inner satisfaction and joy. Doing these small acts of kindness require so little effort both in terms and time money but they give you a huge amount of joy and contentment at the end. They are applicable everywhere even in the job environment if you develop this habit of showing kindness to others and going an extra mile to help others no matter how small it brings happiness to others. Listening to others when they are ignored, consoling someone if he is feeling low. These little seeds are magical. After all, we will be rewarded for these little deeds and you sometimes these rewards will go unnoticed but you can always connect the dots looking backward. The reward for these things in the life hereafter is confirmed by Allah Almighty.
