Love what you do
I was reading Wings of Fire an autobiography of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. He has referred a beautiful quote of Khalil Gibran “Bread baked without love is a bitter bread that feeds but half a man’s hunger.” After reading the quote I tried to explain it myself by breaking the quote in three parts.
- Bread baked without love : means any work which is done without putting your heart and soul.
- is a bitter bread: means the work which is done without putting all efforts or without giving your heart and soul will be done but it will not be up to the mark.
- that feeds but half a man’s hunger: means the work you have done will not satisfy the need of the person for whom it is done.
In the book Wings of Fire Dr Kalam has given wonderful examples
If you are a writer who would secretly prefer to be a lawyer or a doctor, your written words will feed but half the hunger of your readers; if you are a teacher who would rather be a businessman, your instructions will meet but half the need for knowledge of your students; if you are a scientist who hates science, your performance will satisfy but half the needs of your mission.
I am doing my internship (or say Article-ship)it is about to complete and most of the time in entire internship period I haven’t shown interest towards my work. But I do complete my work within the given time.
After reading the quote I realised that even though work is completed within the given time it does not satisfy the need of Client as well as my Principle(or Boss) because it was not done with wholeheartedly. Some important lessons learned during the end of my internship.
So don’t bake the bread without love if you want to feed a man’s hunger fully.
