As a developer I really love the “todo.txt” method (http://todotxt.com/) I first saw pitched by Gina Trapani years ago. With just a standard format text file in a Dropbox folder I’m still able to have a widget view on my Android phone, a Chrome extension for when I’m at my desktop, scheduled tasks via IFTTT (reminding me to journal every morning and exercise every night), and integration with my Alexa todo list. And since I’ve got complete access to all the data I can extend it in any direction I want (I keep telling myself I’m going to write a bot-coach that monitors how much I’m getting done each day and then either praises me or yells at me, depending…)
