Six (6) guidelines for deciding your career

1. Find your passion and align it with your career

2. Decisions are very unique to each person, what’s right for one isn’t right for the other

3. Own your decisions: Don’t let other people make decisions for you and don’t blame anyone else

4. Do an internship before pursuing a higher degree to confirm if you like that field/industry

5. Don’t do PhD if you want to be an entrepreneur or work in corporate sector

6. Spend at least one year in your first job

No one can’t stop time but he/she can manage time. Bill gate the most richest person in this world was having the same time and the rest of people who are older to him were having some more time to him but they didn’t acquire the success as like him and unfortunately no one in this whole world is richest and stood as the first person continuously several years. Time will pass either we use it or not. We need to know our self and use time in an very efficient way to get most of it.

I have found almost 90% people who are just passing their time without any future plan. They even are not using the current time as like someone if he/she is waiting for any other he/she will say “I am just passing the time until he/she comes” but don’t know whom they are waiting so passing time deliberately as like it is someone else.

The necessity of putting all these words into consideration is to forward the response of a great friend of mine who was laughing soon after I started my discussion about six guidelines for deciding career. Actually he got impressed late but initially, he was not showing his interest as he was not even getting time for study after coming from far away here in UET Lahore. It was a great informative discourse with him, after a long discussion I succeeded in convincing him to use his time as it’s our time not someone else.

He raised some questions to how a person start a business if he is financially weak and why it is necessary to spend at least one year in a job. My answer were business doesn’t mean to spend millions dollars but it means to spend money through active mind working so smartly. So start a small business and make it big not wait for a big start. If you are interested to share your experience in your resume than at least one year is necessary to avoid interviewer from taking bad impression if not then it doesn’t matter when to leave not necessary to spend a year.
