Elizabeth, I can understand how difficult it must've been for you. Introvert parent/extrovert kid or vice versa is just such a collision of energy that one would always have to suck it up and go along with the other at some point. The key is to find a balance. Fortunately or unfortunately, in India, there’s no dearth of social situations that you get pulled in everyday, the society park itself being a huge social magnet! So, while my kid goes ahead and talks to everyone , I watch her from a distance, tucked out of sight, maybe with a like-minded friend. It’s win-win :).

Yes, you’re absolutely right. It’s imperative for kids to engage with others so even if you’re an introverted parent, it’s no excuse to keep your kid away from people/extra-curricular activities that’d only help shape their personality. So do whatever you have to in order to cope and be there. An occasional wine helps too :).
