With the integration of digital aspects such as cloud and analytics, robots now have a multi-dimensional influence. More than half of this is expected to be distributed to the retail sector. This is unsurprising, given that retail has long been a leader in sophisticated technology adoption. Automation is not a new occurrence in this business, and it was used to generate efficiency in retail supply chains long before it became fashionable- Shamayun Miah. However, warehouse and industrial automation are increasingly being pursued under pressure to innovate, particularly in the face of aggressive competition from e-commerce merchants who are significantly investing in robots.

To be helpful, automated guided vehicles (AGVs) and autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) require robust operating systems, data gathering and analysis tools, and integration with current retail systems.
