Branded a “Cape Coloured” growing up in the “new” South Africa, this bring so much perspective to my adolescence. My schooling coincided with our freedom and even though the past was branded with fervent regret, its remnants impacted my social interactions. Unfortunately, even today, a discreet form of this rationalization resides deep within people from both sides of the aisle.

Thank you for this, it’s especially poignant considering some of the ludicrous rhetoric gaining traction daily.

This line of thought preempted Apartheid, lets not get there again…
