Hi Matt. :)
I am a professional dancer here in NYC, and last year I felt very compelled to invent something (something outside the territory of my expertise) that I am passionate about and want to see existing, ultimately because it is something I want to use and need in my own life. It subsequently takes the form of an app. It isnt social media really, it is social interactivity. I dived in on drawing up a summary and a proposal not having any earthly idea on how to go about making it happen. I emailed Fueled NYC with a million questions, only to find out how much I would need before going to a developer of that caliber.
I have overcome great odds in my life to be living in NYC and dancing professionaly and I seem to fly by the seat of my pants and reach for the stars to make great unexpected things happen in my life. Not to ramble, but a few months ago I ran into Casey’s Vlogs. I was wildly fascinated and started watching more. About 12 videos in I discovered what Beme was. The paralells of Caseys life to mine, being an artist and then starting a company have been informtive and inspiring, and in a respectful authentic way I’ve been wanting to meet him or the Beme team, even if only for an hour. I dont want to pitch anything, I’m not looking to partner or anything like that. Just mere advice on how to go about executing such a lofty endeavor.
My app/invention has become one of those things I live and breathe and will see to the end. It has traction, it has a need, it solves a problem, and its f*&%$ng cool, IMO. I’ve done my best to create all I can, chart a course of action that will move it forward, make a brief, get a patent, find a developer, make an MVP, develop a team, make an MVC, THEN go for funding, set up in offices, then take the long hard unknown road towards making it stay and win the hearts of users, hundreds of iterations later. I havent done any of those things yet, But I am working with NO money, and NO real connections. No matter how legitimate I feel it is and no matter how out of territory this is for me, as of now I feel at a standstill. I dont know what to do next. Who to reach out to when Ireally have no money and no programming experience.
I know its odd to ask, but I am right around the corner form the Beme offices, and I know im publicly asking this on a comment thread out of left field, but it would mean the world if you could reach out or we could connect, and if in your VERY busy schedule maybe we could meet for an hour or something just to ask your advice on what moves to take for myself to carry this forward. I could email you my proposal/summary/idea, and if it sounds like something viable to you, it would mean the world to me to meet in person with individuals who are succeeding at what I am trying to do for myself. I will leave you my email if you see this and wish to contact me - shaneacarrigan@gmail.com. Thanks for reading this Matt. I love Beme and have become a daily user. :) Have a great day!
