While I agree with your points that the legal aspects are not nearly as big as the hype makes them to be this week, this quote is missing the other sides of the equation:
If it’s too arduous to remove React, you can fork React and design around the patents.
That’s not an easy task for many projects, especially opensource ones. Any projects need to consider three aspects before making changes: legal, technology, and community. I try to give a perspective of all three here:
