I’ve thought about these two words long and hard for years, great to see some other thoughts on them, and to read the comments here as well. It’s all semantics, but I’ve come to define the two together: coherence is the goal or outcome, consistency is a way to achieve it. Being overly consistent for the sake of it gives a lifeless design and experience with no texture, no character. Being coherent creates a family, but keeps individual character throughout as well, creating some life :)
