I’m an entrepreneur from the Harry Potter generation. A generation that grew up with the love of literature, cinema and magic. A generation that believes that no matter how insignificant we might think we are, we all have the potential to change the world for the better. Together.

From William Shakespeare to Bob Dylan to Stanley Kubrick to JK Rowling, great artists have always made the seemingly impossible task of changing a person’s perspective of the world possible at the largest of scales. Because that’s what art does when it’s done right. Words on paper and images on celluloid transcend into living, breathing personalities that we begin to respect, care for, hate, get jealous of and sometimes even fall in love with.

There’s no shortage of admiration for what art means to humanity or respect for the artists that create them, but there is a deficit in what we consider as art today.

Schédio started as an advertising agency because I believe that advertising is art. And like all great art, has the potential to do more than just sell a product or build a brand, but introduce a new way of looking at the world.

Our driving mission is to make the world a better place through the intersection between art and commerce. We want the work we do to liberate people from linear thinking and make the world a more beautiful place in that process through great, meaningful aesthetic design.

The kind of work I’m talking about isn’t done by a single individual, but created collectively by an industry. And the purpose of industry is to build at scale. An industry is a product in itself, where each person involved is a component and when combined with other great components, creates things that move humanity forward. Over the next few years, our biggest focus is going to be talent and culture. Finding the world’s finest artists, both known and undiscovered (sometimes even to themselves) and putting them in an environment where they can collaborate, create and celebrate.

And as we bring together a collective of great talent to work with us, we want the work we do to be meaningful and have lasting impact coupled together with solving real problems in today’s business environments for industries as traditional as hospitality to as counter-traditional as technology startups.

We’re going to be achieving this by removing the tag of an advertising agency to Schédio as we prepare to grow into something bigger in order to accommodate bigger dreams and ambitions. Over the next few years, starting from just a few days from now, we are going to be launching various entities each with their own purpose of solving practical business problems through meaningful art in the form of various media.

I will be writing a blog post for each one as we launch them to share their purpose and place in the world.

When you create your work with the love for the process, incredible things happen. Because you’re not doing it for an end result, you’re doing it because you love doing it. And I’ll leave you with what happens when you do that.

Until next time.
