Individual Activity #4 — National Museum of the Philippines

National Museum — 02.07.16

It is the day of the week to spend time with our families but me and my friends decided to visit the National Museum. I was able to see the richness of the Philippine culture. There were numerous collections of artworks by different artists. I was so amazed by their talents and intelligence to create things like that. There were drawings, paintings, sculptures and many more. Each masterpiece has a story to tell. Our government should really take efforts to preserve and enrich these artworks. I encourage everyone, especially the youth, to visit our National Museum to discover the greatness within our country’s art.

Here’s my National Museum experience :)

INSIDE THE MUSEUM

CHOSEN ARTWORKS:

01. Mandaya by Norberto Monterona; oil on canvas

I think this work of Monterona promotes the local industry and culture of the Lumads. It seeks the support of the Filipino people.

02. A Filipina Beauty by Vicente Alvarez Dizon; used pastel on paper

I believe that this artwork is made to show the beauty of the Filipino women to everyone. The artist wants to allow us to appreciate the Filipina beauty.

03. Reencuentro U of Federico Aguilar Alcuaz; pressed dyed wool material

For me, Mr. Alcuaz exhibited the modern and abstract forms of art.

04. Hulat Sweldo of Nunelucio Alvarado; diptych, oil on canvas material

From the title itself, i think its about the wages and benefits of our laborers in the country.

05. Bondage made by Papo de Asis using oil on canvas

It is not that easy to figure out the message that Mr. Papo de Asis wants to convey with his artwork but I think this has something to do with violence and hardships.

06. Fish Forms by Ang Kiukok; oil on canvas material

This painting by Ang Kiukok encourages us to create ordinary things in a creative way.

07. Travail Immigree, Kalutasan by Edgar Talusan Fernandez; acrylic on canvas material

I think this painting shows that there is a need for us to contribute for our country’s betterment.

08. Mater Dolorosa made by Norma Belleza; oil on board material

From the title itself, it is a painting of Our Lady of Sorrows, the mother of sorrows.
