Beach Graffiti Poetry

Do you find inspiration when you look out over the waves and marvel at the mighty ocean in front of you? Does your mind wander when you’re lost in the natural rhythms of waves crashing onto the shore? Does the mad world disappear for a little while when you put your feet in the sand?

As a writer, poet and artist, my senses come alive more than ever when at the shore. I started a tradition a few years ago of getting up early in the morning and writing short poems in the sand for beachgoers to see. Although the poems are eventually stolen by the sea at high tide, I like to think that a few people notice the words and might be inspired throughout the day.

I always take a photo and a short video in the hope of increasing the shelf life of the poem for more than a day.

Calling all poets, writers, graffiti artists and dreamers! Head out to the beach, set your soul free and leave a few words of inspiration!

Here’s a short video of one from last year…
