Assignment 2: Animation Fundamentals

In this scene Tom begins to slowly ascend down the lamp. He stretches his body during the slide to make sure that the coast is clear before actually coming down. This element shows his fear that the dog is going to be there. It gives the viewers the sense that he is being cautious.

Tom is clearly scene hiding in the corner for Jerry. The minute Jerry comes into contact, Tom decided to take the chance and pounce on him. This scene demonstrated the fundemental rule of Anticipation. In the screenshots, Jerry is initially scared and then ready to escape. Tom on the other sees his one opportunity and plans to take it.

In this scene Tom is smacked by the anvil and gets deformed into a table. According to the principles, it matched exaggeration the most. Exaggerated scenes in Tom and Jerry really pushed the comedic aspects of this animation. Getting hit in the scenes would leave the characters deformed in the most weirdest ways. However, it was only a matter of minutes where they always sprung back into action.
