My Ambitious New Year Resolutions

As tradition dictates, I have been thinking about The Goals I’d like to achieve this year. Hopefully, I’ll commit to them all and overhaul my lifestyle.

Minimalism

  • Sell or give away everything I don’t need or want.
  • Instagram photos instead of clogging my phone’s memory.
  • Use other social media sites less.

Writing

  • Write one poem a week.
  • Read at an Open Mic Poetry night once a week.
  • Discover three new Open Mic Poetry Nights.
  • Blog more, every day if I can manage it.
  • Ace all of my assignments.

Health

  • Cut down on booze, smoking and soda.
  • Complete physiotherapy for my ankle injury and start running again.
  • Go to the gym three times a week.
  • Take more walks.
  • Swim at least once a month.

Mental Health

  • Stop letting other people’s issues affect me and helping so much.
  • Spend fewer days in bed feeling sorry for myself.
  • Talk more openly about my mental health.

Yoga and Meditation

  • Meditate for at least five minutes a day.
  • Actually get on my Yoga mat often instead of looking up Yogis on social media.

Lifestyle

  • Go Veg*n, completely.
  • Get into the habit of sleeping and waking up early.
  • Eat as many homecooked meals as possible.
  • Cut my Mexican fast food habit.
  • Pinch my pennies.
  • Cut down my hours watching Netflix and browsing Reddit.
  • Keep up my Duolingo Dutch language skills. (Currently, Level 8.)

Creativity

  • Sew items of clothing and actually wear them.
  • Knit more.
  • Read at least twenty books.
  • Watch more “classic” or “cult” movies.

Travel

  • Visit France, Denmark, Spain and Scotland.
  • Explore more museums.
