That’s a great point. To take this idea further — will having a cascading file structure encourage the designer to arrange and group their layers effectively? This is an opportunity and clearly needs to be tested. To further illustrate this point, an example to look at is grouping of symbols using the Symbol/sub-symbol paradigm in Sketch — designers started grouping symbols together more once they discovered that they can do so using that naming paradigm. The problem our solution in this post and your comment touch on is that of layer housekeeping; and this is just part of the solution of this huge problem.
