Wegovy 6: What I eat in a day.

This is the sixth in a continuing series about my experience with the weight-loss drug Wegovy, which is similar to Ozempic.

I’ve been on Wegovy now for almost six weeks. During the first month, I had two episodes of binge-eating. When I binge, I eat nonstop for approximately three days, so let’s say I binged six out of 30 days last month.

During the days I wasn’t binging, I followed a food plan that has been my staple for years. That — and regular exercise — have been the two reasons I have not eaten my way back up to my top weight of 230 pounds.

Food Plan Structure

Here is the food plan that I received from a nutritionist. When I am at home, I weigh my food on a scale but not in restaurants because it’s too cumbersome.

Breakfast: 1 protein, 1 fat, 1 fruit

Lunch: 1 protein, 1 fat, 12 oz. vegetables

Dinner: 1/2 protein, 1 fat, 12 oz. vegetables

Snack: 1/2 protein

Typical Daily Menu

Here’s a typical day, and I alternate between cooked and raw vegetables. I don’t like to cook so I tend to eat the same foods all the time.

Breakfast: 8 oz. yogurt, 1 apple, 0.5 oz. sunflower seeds

Lunch: 4 oz. chicken, 1.0 oz. salad dressing, 12 oz. mixed vegetables

Dinner: 2 oz. tofu, 2 oz. avocado, 12 oz. mixed vegetables

Snack: 1 egg or 4 oz. yogurt

Not bad, right? The problem is that I haven’t been able to stick to the food plan for any length of time, which is why I’m taking Wegovy.

As I said in an earlier blog, the dosage for Wegovy increases incrementally. The first month is a 0.25 mg dose and the second is a 0.5 dose. I have noticed a difference being on more medication — even less hunger and cravings — so I am hoping I will not binge this month because lord, I want to stop this cycle!
