It’s no secret that Rihanna slays. From her critically snubbed Anti album (who needs a Grammy anyway?) to her uber successful collabs with Puma and Dior, Rihanna’s got a hold of us and our wallets. There’s not much that the chart-topping 29-year-old “bad gal” doesn’t have a hand in. Which is why when news broke that Rihanna was releasing a beauty line called Fenty Beauty by Rihanna to go alongside her FentyxPuma line, the internet erupted with enthusiasm and tweets, like this one by @_AlexisSophia_ “I’m here for @rihanna new beauty line #fentybeauty coming to Sephora. I fucks with anything she puts out!!”

But the news swiftly turned sour as the old saying rang in the ears of the disappointed, not everything on the internet is true. Rihanna isn’t releasing a makeup line anytime soon and the photos claiming she is releasing holographic lip gloss are simply alternative facts. So how did this fake news come about? A fan account on Instagram posted photos claiming to be new products scheduled to release in Fall 2017 at Sephora. These fake posts came shortly after a verified posting of Fenty Beauty’s search for a makeup artist.

It didn’t take long for news outlets to begin reaching out to reps from the brand who set the record straight saying “the conversations seemed to have spiked after a post about the brand’s search for a makeup artist. This is the only official information posted from the brand since the announcement of the launch in Spring of 2016. Any other post and/or chatter are from fan pages that are enthusiastically awaiting the launch and are unofficial and conjecture about the launch. We are just as excited as the fans and promise the launch will be worth the wait. Stay tuned for Fall 2017.”

Even though reps have cleared up any false rumors, many are still anticipating the release of holographic lip gloss and the sure-to-stun promos that will accompany the collection. Guess we’ll have to wait and see, but bitch better have my lipgloss.
