I’ve gone to SEVERAL burlesque shows and they all had their different set of rules. And among all of the different shows and posts I find online about etiquette, they all say the SAME THING — Performers WANT you to be vocal and to show your adoration and enjoyment. However, I recently went to a show and for the FIRST time was asked (politely) by the house to quite down my “whoo hooo’s” because the folks in front of me complained. They were older, they were quiet type….but come on? SERIOUSLY? I paid the same ticket price (VIP), two of the performers were friends and I dressed up to the nines to show my respect. I had never been so embarrassed in my entire life! Why would someone else’s enjoyment and request for quietness not only be welcomed but encouraged? Sadly, it left a bad taste in my mouth and I will NEVER support this particular troop again.
