Innovation agility

By James Jesty, Shape New Ideas

Innovation by management committee doesn’t work. It leads to mediocrity.

Give your innovation challenges to small teams of 3–4 people and send them off to explore, experiment and prototype. Limit resources and give them clear short term goals. Bring in additional points of view via workshops with other experts, but keep the core team small and nimble.

This creates momentum, enthusiasm and energy. They will be able to build stronger ideas in ways that a ideas by committee is unable to.
