Introducing the Montreal Hub’s newest Global Shapers
We received a record number of applications to join the Montreal Hub this year, making our final decisions very difficult. Through our members and projects, we strive to reflect the diversity of the city of Montreal, a world-class city where culture, diversity, and the arts, all play an important role in the city’s vitality. We believe the ten young leaders listed below reflect this diversity, while embodying our values and ambitions to have a positive impact on our local communities in Montreal.

Strategic Accounts at C2 Montréal
Alexa is an energetic optimist, interested in the intersection of business and impact. After graduating from McGill with a double major in political science & history, Alexa moved to São Paulo, Brazil to do a post-grad in social innovation management. She returned in April 2015 and has been working for C2 Montréal developing the relationships with strategic partners. Recently, she volunteered at a refugee camp in Greece and has been working on numerous initiatives to support the new livelihoods of the community in Montréal and leverage her networks globally to ideate new solutions for refugee integration. This includes the Ideate for Impact program at C2 Montréal 2017 and The Refugees Welcome Dinner in collaboration with WeWork. She is looking forward to working with the Shapers to kick-start some new projects!
CEO and Founder, WoFemTech Solutions
Aminka Belvitt is a digital marketing consultant, innovator, advocate, mentor and speaker. She is the CEO of WoFemTech Solutions, a virtual collective empowering women and girls worldwide through the connectivity of learning and technology. As a strong advocate for women’s and girls empowerment she mentors marginalised girls through her foundation ForUsGirls. She has contributed to several UN Women campaigns as a Champion of Change 2016–2017 with Empower Women, and serves as a One Young World Ambassador.
Business Strategy at Cirque du Soleil
Andrea is a modern knowledge worker interested in individual and collective human potential. She is often reflecting and always curious, currently working in business strategy at Cirque du Soleil. Prior to this, she spent a few years abroad doing analytics and product management for startups in London and San Francisco. Reach out to her for all things mental models, organizational change, and philosophy. And straight up real talk.
Charlotte Jacob-Maguire is an advocate and speaker for universal accessibility. She is a Food Fellow at the Museum of Jewish Montreal. She equally writes for Tastet, a Montreal food website. She has a strong interest in how food conveys memories, maintains historical consciousness and possesses agency. She holds a graduate degree in Anthropology from the University of Oxford and a joint undergraduate degree in Art History and East Asian Studies from McGill University.
Daniel Tarantino works in the Cities, Infrastructure and Water space at Arup, a multinational engineering, planning and design consultancy endeavouring to shape a better world. A McGill alumnus, former RJCCQ UNFCCC COP22 delegate and Founder of a startup recognized by the MIT SOLVE initiative, Daniel’s curiosity, open-mindedness and creativity are driving forces behind his desire to utilize design, in the broadest sense of the word, and systems thinking to scale positive change.
Ikram believes in creating opportunities for Youth and building the grounds for everyone to succeed and live a meaningful life. She is one of the three founders of the Jeune Chambre de Commerce Algérienne du Canada. She currently works in risk management and financial compliance at Bombardier. Prior to this, she worked on Parliament Hill at the office of the Minister of Health of Canada. She is also a current member of the Parlement Jeunesse du Québec. During her time at McGill University, Ikram served as the editor-in-chief of McGill’s only francophone newspaper: Le Délit. Ikram is a strong advocate of freedom of speech and women empowerment and has a strong interest in smart cities and the environment.

Our youngest recruit, Nayem is currently 20 years old, studying Electrical Engineering at McGill University. He is a motivated, young social entrepreneur who enjoys reading books, playing basketball and solving problems. He is also a slam poet who aspires to make a difference with the power of voice.
Phaedra de Saint-Rome
Founding Team Member, Zua Microfinance
Phaedra de Saint-Rome recently graduated with a joint honours in political science and history from McGill, followed by a mini-MBA at Stanford’s Graduate School of Business. Currently assisting the set up of a microfinance non-profit based in Zambia that seeks to empower women and mitigate the impacts of climate change, Phaedra’s experience spans all angles of the public sector, from non-profit/NGO work, to politics, and IOs; she is driven to opportunities to challenge herself and to combine her keen sense of justice with her international scope of interests.

Sarin Boivin-Picard est un athlète tri-sectoriel : il est analyste financier à la Banque Nationale du Canada , travaille pour la défense canadienne, et est le fondateur de la Fondation Essem. Sarin siège sur le conseil d’administration de deux organisations à but non lucratif : le Centre Culturel Georges Vanier et la Fondation LOJIQ. Il fait également partie de l’organisation des Jeunes Diplomates du Canada où il a participé aux Spring Meetings 2017 de la Banque Mondiale et du FMI à Washington D.C. Jeune entrepreneur social, Sarin croit fermement à une approche multidisciplinaire pour la résolution de problèmes complexes et difficiles.

Sinthusha Kandiah is the Founder of a non-profit organization, Divinart Foundation and is a WE Day Youth Speaker. Sinthusha strives to make a difference in her local and global community through art. She is passionate about social justice and is paving her own path in pursuit of inspiring others and positively impacting people’s lives.
