The first thing I want to say is this isn’t going to apply to every person that is a college graduate (and no it doesn’t mean that what you did is any wrong), but I hope this resonates to some. I congratulate you and am so happy that everything worked out for you. But this blog is for my people who have experienced being confused after walking across that stage and received that degree. You’ve realized that the formula that society says that you needed to do, failed you.

I am no expert nor think I have all the answers, but I can tell you how I got by(well am getting by because I’m still going through it, but I’m writing my way through it). Maybe this could help along the line or you may even know someone that could use the encouragement and perhaps you’ve experienced and would like to give your testimony or how you got by.

The intentions of my writing is touch your mind and spirit. I want my words to be uplifting and stories to be encouraging. I want to gain feedback, have an outlet for others to express their trials and how they got to their triumph or for my people that are enduring it now, to let them know they are not alone and provide an outlet. And most importantly I thought this needed to be heard now. So many of us are embarrassed about it, but its nothing to be ashamed about. It’s okay to figure things out as it comes.

Society has gotten our minds so equipped to the idea of success being, go to college, graduate, and get a fantastic job (microwavable right?) and they say “we’re the microwavable generation” because they’ve instilled this in us, that if you do x, y, and z you get a wonderful prize at the end. A lot of times it doesn’t end up that way for many of us. They never inform us on what happens if “the formula” doesn’t work. I’ve come across so many individuals and have had to experience this for myself, with the feeling of what’s next after college. You make plans, have visions, and prepare, but what happens when none of our plans doesn’t fall through. We get stuck, confused, disappointed, and a feeling of failure.

What happens when your route is detoured?

Like I’ve stated before I experienced this myself. I knew everything wasn’t going to go accordingly, but I heard from other friends of the “post-graduate depression” . Didn’t think there were a name to what you were/are going through — tiredness, restless, agitated, losing interest in life, becoming unable to enjoy anything, avoiding people, and losing self-confidence. Beware of the issues you’re having and address it. Don’t allow yourself to sit in that state forever. There were plenty of times that I had mental breakdowns out of the blew and was losing it. What was beneficial to me was having people in my corner. Have someone that understands you and knows the places you want to go in life, to help encourage you.

It’s okay to say I am a mess! I have no direction or the direction I had, I wasn’t lead down that path. Don’t be ashamed of your progress, find a way to embrace it and keeping going. The answer that I have to solve that problem is getting in with Jesus. BUT when you say it you have to sit, be still and be with Jesus and let Him direct you. The thing is even if you have no direction, there is a way to get back on track. You have to know when He is halting you, He is getting ready to do the extraordinary. Remember our struggles are opportunity for growth.

I don’t have statistics for you, but real experiences. Yes, there are some who get what they want, but what about the others?

I have a solution for you, emerge yourself in the word(word meaning bible). It’ll take some time and it won’t happen overnight, but it’ll definitely be worth it. This is where I’ll step in to give some tips and guidance on how you have to include God to get the answers and directions you need ….on what God says vs “The World”. Don’t lose yourself in this world. How if you seek Him and let Him in, it’ll all come to form. God has given us authority “You gave them authority over all things.” Now when it says “all things,” it means nothing is left out. But we have not yet seen all things put under their authority. Hebrews 2:8 NLT — You won’t understand everything that is going to take place. Know that sometimes what we want, may not be what He wants for us. Like real deal. He has already mapped everything out for us. If you don’t seek Him how will you find out? Know that you will not have all that you desire, need, want without Him. All these people earned a good reputation because of their faith, yet none of them received all that God had promised. For God had something better in mind for us, so that they would not reach perfection without us. Hebrews 11:39–40 NLT

Know that during this time He has your back like never before.

Most importantly…

Find comfort in your chaos.

The more you seat, the more he’ll reveal.
