This image is created in the context of the nineties, comparing fame to a religion. The white backlight creates depth in the image, resembling heaven and how the celebrity walks down the red carpert with a “god like” aura, making the celebrity a metonymic code, we can assume that the fans are worshiping the celebrity like a “god”. With screaming fans at both sides of the red carpet, it gets the idea across of how celebrity worship is like and how crazy it can get. Also, from the image we can see that the fans are young people. This is an aspect we want to show in our project as well, the severity of celebrity worship among teens and how this is a growing issue and the consequences it has on them. From a cultural perspective, as seen from this image, celebrity worship may seem like something normal and all a part of a glamourous lifestyle, but our project aims to show that celebrity worship is darker and more dangerous than it seems.
