God’s promises to mankind is numerous but sometimes we don’t get to experience those promises being fulfilled in our lives. In this article, i would be sharing vital reasons why this often happen to most christians.

It is undeniable that God is a faithful God, He is faithful to all His promises and is faithful through all generations.

Most times we wonder, since God is faithful, how come most of His promises to us don’t get fulfilled? Why don’t we experience them? The truth is that in most cases, we are the ones that hinder our blessings from reaching us.

The 3 major ways by which we obstruct our own blessings are;

  • Lack of faith & unbelief
  • Disobedience & rebellion
  • Unpreparedness

Lack of faith & unbelief comes with the inability to trust God or rely completely in Him. Most christians are not confident in God & God’s abilities , and are always doubtful of what God says in any situation. The bible teaches that we should always trust God in every circumstance, we are not supposed to understand all of God’s plans but we are meant to believe in what He has said and all that He says. When we don’t have faith, our blessings are most likely to be hindered because, if we are skeptical about what God has said about us or what He has promised us because we somewhat feel it can’t happen, how then do we expect God to fulfill it? Believing in something else that isn’t what God has said leads us to falling away from God and prevents us from receiving His promises. In the case of the Isrealites after they were delivered from the Egyptians, their unbelief caused them to wander in the wilderness for 40 years. God was capable to take them to the promised land within a short but because of their unbelief and mistrust, God allowed them to wander in the wilderness till the generation of those who doubted Him has passed.

What do we learn from this? God wants us to believe in Him and Have faith without doubts even when we don’t understand the situation. Believing God just because the blessings has manifested does not please God, and those who believe when they have not seen are blessed.

Disobedience is the unwillingness to adhere to the commands of God and plainly doing something different from what God has asked us to do. Christians often oppose God’s will, go against His rules and refuse to surrender to the authority of the Lord just to satisfy our own desires. We should be aware that most of the promises of God are obtained through obedience, so when do not obey His commands, we are apparently hindering ourselves from receiving those blessings. When we consciously do things that are against God’s will, we are rebelling against Him. This shows us that we constantly rebel against God in this century because most of our actions on daily basis fail to comply with His demands.

Another way we can disobey God is through ignorance. If we are ignorant of the ways of God and His will for us, it is possible for us to be disobeying Him without knowing it and we can be hindering ourselves from experience the promises of God manifest in our lives. Hence, we should avoid being ignorant and seek the knowledge of God so that we wouldn’t in any way be stopping our blessings from manifesting.

Unpreparedness is another reason why our blessings are hindered. This shows that the inability of securing the promises of God is also due to our ineligibility, carelessness, unwillingness and unreadiness to receive the promises, thus being unprepared can come in these various forms and more. Most times we expect blessings that we are not even eligibile to obtain or handle, we expect promises that we are not even ready to receive. Our carelessness can also obstruct us from for experiencing the manifestation of God’s promise, this why the bible tells us to be watchful. If we are incompetent, It also hinders the manifestation of the promises of God. If we take of look at the parable of the ten virgins, we would realize that the 10 of them were made the same promise of being married to the groom. However, only 5 of them were able to experience the promises manifest in their lives because the other 5 were not prepared. They all desired the promise but the unreadiness of the foolish virgins made them ineligible to experience the promise of dinning with the groom and they missed out on their blessing. In this scenario, it was clearly the 5 virgins that hindered themselves from obtaining the promise because they were unprepared. Let us therefore stop hindering ourselves and train ourselves to be qualified to obtain God’s promises in every aspects of our lives.
