This didn’t turn out to be what I expected.

I disagree that if Hillary were a man that she’d be the next President. I think the only reason gender is mentioned is because it’s something she and her supporters continue to bring into the discussions.

As someone who has been invested in women’s rights, does it not bother you that part of her platform — elect her because she is a woman — actually brings us steps backwards rather than forwards?

It does bother me.

Here’s why: the fight for equality has never been about choosing a woman over a man. It’s always been about allowing women to compete on equal grounds and be able to share in the rewards of their efforts just like men.

Let’s take gender and even values aside. Let’s focus on track record and history. The harsh reality is that Hillary has made more wrong choices than right ones. Her supporters defend this as if she made the right decisions for the time. But is that even defensible? Do we want someone as President with the track record she has? Her and Sanders have voted the same way on 93% of bills. When you look at that 7% , it demonstrates the difference between them: Sanders has consistently shown to make the right choice in the long run. For me that is what being a leader is.

I think if Bernie wins, based on what I’m seeing of the new progressive movement and the up and comers, we’ll see a whole different environment for women in politics. There will be future Elizabeth Warrens stepping up and the country needs more Elizabeths than Hillarys.
