Everyone wants to be successful in life. But to be successful, you need to first have a definition for success. Only then can you work towards it.
Everyone has different definition of success. And none of them are wrong. They are just different. Also, the way a person defines success tells us a lot about that person. It tells us what they aspire to be and what is the most important to them. For example, someone could consider themselves successful if they earned a million dollars whereas another would consider themselves as a success if they could make their parents proud in what they do.
Here’s my definition of success, “I think a person is a success if they can inspire others to do more and become more.” Basically if you can inspire people by what you do, you are successful. Inspire, not motivate.
I also like Bob Dylan’s take on it, “A man is a success if he gets up in the morning and gets to bed at night, and in between he does what he wants to do.”
Here are some other definitions of success that I have come across -
Success is peace of mind, which is a direct result of self-satisfaction in knowing you did your best to become the best you are capable of becoming.
Success is living a virtuous life.
Success is liking yourself, liking what you do, and liking how you do it.
These definitions act as a guiding light in everything we do. So if you want to be successful, first, define your success.
