Beauty, Beast and the Barre….How I Fell In LOVE..
I want to tell you the story of how I got introduced and fell in love with barre workouts.
Once upon a time…. I was doing workouts that men designed but were ‘just fine’ for women too. You know the ones, you see them on pinterest with their ‘Train Like A Beast, Look Like A Beauty’. Men and male-based movement DOMINATE the fitness industry. And to be honest I got tired of guys telling me what to do with my body. Or women who were 22 and had not had babies with flat little tummies tell me how to best lose weight. It didn’t seem to fit for me and yet I was stuck in that way of moving. I am a Mom, and I am not a naturally skinny girl. On the opposite side Yoga was great for 1 day a week but it wasn’t going to get me where I wanted my body to be.
In September of 2013 I had my first Barre class. Three moves in, I was sweating and my muscles were shaking. I was so surprised! It was tough AND feminine! It was low impact and safe for my joints and yet intense. It was graceful, elongating and FIERCE! And I felt it . Big time. In all the RIGHT places. You know the ones…Butt, Inner Things, Hips, Core and Backs of Arms.. After one month of consistent workouts, my body was leaner, tighter and had more muscle definition. I felt…. sexier.
I was IN!
Barre workouts NAIL feminine strength in a way I never knew existed in a workout. They are dynamic, low impact and target all of those nasty little trouble spots! You sweat! You squeeze! You tuck! You hold steady….which is not as easy as it sounds.
Today, I have taught thousands of women and developed my own barre program using my favorite moves and methods. Six Week On Pointe is launching in less than two weeks…Ladies, you’re going to want this. Stay tuned for details….It’s important to know that you CAN train like a beast and look like a beauty….but maybe your beast is more Maleficent and less Gladiator.
