Post Live Event Blues

Today I got to see, hear, and learn from a man who’s already changed my life in just the short few months that I’ve known about him. He’s been around for a long time and you might know him as one of the co-creators of the “Chicken Soup For The Soul” book series. His name is Jack Canfield and I’d first heard of him from “The Secret”, where he and other leaders in the self help world, are interviewed and share the not-so-secret of manifesting greatness into your life (In short). I’ve read his amazing book “The Success Principles: How to Get from Where You Are to Where You Want to Be” and it’s one you dog ear, make notes and go back and actually reference.

So I jumped at the chance to hear him speak live when he came to Los Angeles. And he delivered. He over delivered. He inspired and gave us actionable steps to take in order to complete our “breakthrough goal”.

During the VIP luncheon, Jack went around the room and answered people’s questions, which we ALL learned from.

Here’s the thing about live events. You’re in a room with 600 other people. You’re all nodding your head to the stories and information. You are abuzz with the energy in the room. And, he’s standing in FRONT of you. It’s easy to walk out, feel inspired and ride that high all the way up the 405.

It’s the morning after, the next day, a week later that things start to fade. You don’t remember whose business card you’re looking at. Was that the nice lady who sat next to me at lunch or was that the gal who pointed out the 2nd restroom to me while we were in line? Maybe you had a daily ritual you began and by day 8 you slack off a bit and then poof, it’s done.

It’s also a little sad. Kind of post holiday season-esque.

Well, I want to continue this momentum. I’d like to break tradition of the post live event blues. One of the things Jack suggested today was when you do something new, do it for at least 30 days. It takes 30 days to create a new habit and at least 60 to create new behavior.

I am on day 12 of blogging and posting daily on Medium. I am making an agreement to myself to blog everyday, to create, think, write and use my noodle for 30 days in a row. I don’t plan to stop after 30 days but I will “check in” and see how it and I feel.

What new habit do you want to create and how the hell do you combat post live event blues?

Oh, and I’m also going to see him again in Arizona for a 5-day event. Have something to look forward to, check!
