The Biggest Killer of Black People —
No, It’s not heart disease, gun violence, cancer, AIDS, or accidents — This kills more than all of those combined.
The Choice between Life and Death
I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live.
— Deuteronomy 30:19 (NKJV)
A woman is in deep conversation with herself as she sits in the cold, sterile waiting room. She is feeling the kicks from the baby within her womb. The baby’s kicks are coming successively. It’s as if her unborn child is feeling the same anxieties and uncertainness that she is experiencing.
The young woman has already paid for the services she is about the receive. A nurse walks in to tell her that the doctor will be seeing her next.
The kicks become even more pronounced — the woman’s breathing becomes erratic and difficult to control. Tears roll down her face. Visions of her unborn child’s face begin to flood her imagination. She thinks out loud — “Why hasn’t ANYBODY encouraged me to keep this child” — a week ago in this same office, she was told this service would be best for her and the baby — but is that true, she wondered.
