In October 2021 I undertook and successfully passed the Certified Red Team Professional certification, which is offered by Pentester Academy. In this post, I’ll aim to give an overview of the course, exam and my tips for passing the exam.

The Course

The CRTP course itself is delivered through videos and PowerPoints, which is ideal for people like me who like to learn via different mediums. Sometimes, I like to sit and read the information and slowly digest it, whereas sometimes I’m comfortable seeing the high-level overview via a video explanation. The course is delivered by Nikhil Mittal, author of various offensive tooling such as Nishang. Nikhil is very knowledgeable and I found it genuinely interesting and informative listening to him discussing Active Directory security.

Speaking of which, this course is purely focused on Active Directory exploitation. Active Directory is used in almost every organisation, making this course real-world applicable. It’s also very affordable, currently at $249 at a basic 30-day access to the labs. Speaking of labs…
