I like the article and your ideas. I am not sure the use of the Pope as a moral compass is the best choice. The Catholic Church has had numerous cases of immoral actions. Also, it represents a type of oppression when you think that women can’t be priests or even Pope. For the Pope to discuss basic human rights is somewhat antithetical to the very nature of religion. Praise and worship this god and you ‘must’ believe in these given tenets.

The Pope may have made excellent moral declarations but they are haunted by a history that tends to undercut their authenticity.
