What does love mean to you?
Love is caring for someone wholeheartedly and unconditionally. Love is cherishing life and being passionate about the endless possibilities it offers. Love gives you energy and makes you jump out of bed in the morning ready to face the day. Love motivates you to transform yourself into someone better, healthier, smarter. Love motivates you to take risks by overcoming your inhibitions. Love gives you hope.
Love is the reason why I am alive. Love is my family who took great care of me when I was ill. Love is my partner walking hand in hand with me when I was battling depression. Love is my friends who I can count on when I need them. Love is understanding that the little things in life like taking a morning run by the lake are your sources of happiness. Love is when you tell yourself, “I’m good enough” when you are filled with overwhelming self-doubts and insecurities. Love is you willing to make lifestyle changes or try new things that are out of your comfort zone for yourself and your partner.
Love starts with self-love. You must first learn to love yourself for who you are. Forgive yourselves for the mistakes you made. Learn from the obstacles that you have been through. Better yourselves by making necessary changes that may be painful. Embrace life.
Love is not perfect. Love hurts sometimes. Relationships come and go, people passed on and nothing stays constant. However, the rewards from love far outweigh its risks. Love leads me out of perpetual darkness and brings joy to my life. It is the light that fills me with hope and happiness. To me, love is essential.
