Coping skill #1
A coping skill is a “tool” that a person uses when things are tough and their emotions kick in. One that I use ad feel is highly effective is writing. It could be on a blog, a diary, a poem or song, you get the idea. By writing I feel that it is a good way of letting the situationcal down, and get the bad emotions or thoughts out of your mind. It creates this oasis of imagintion and creativity, for me anyways, that helps to calm me down. I feel as if writing, even if its not for others to read, brings out this whole other person in me out. You don’t have to be upset or angy anything like that to write. But for me it helps me to rethink my words or actions before I act on them. To difuse the situation. With that all said, I encourage other people to try writing, it can be anything,the next time your in a situation that is getting you mad or upset. Parents, even encourage you child(ren) to write when they get angry before they lash out and lose their toys haha. You may be like me and find that it works to help difuse a irritated situation, and help you see yourself in a different way you haven’t before.
